Psychiatric disorders and hepatitis C treated with direct-acting antivirals in a French reference center

چکیده
HCV can cause psychiatric disorders. It is crucial to re-evaluate them with direct-acting antiviral treatment (DDAs), since the interferon-based treatments of past were capable causing identical adverse effects. A system multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings was implemented in France December 2014 regional reference centers aim controlling prescription and administration these new treatments, along optimizing how patients undergoing are followed up. Our study sought compare characteristics type medical care received for chronic hepatitis C (PSY+ group) without (PSY- disorders using data from MDT Alsace area collected 2015 2019. All included mono-infected treated DAAs successive rounds between 2019, as per recommendations French Hepatology Society. We compared two groups PSY-) based on 21 variables regarding C. Psychiatric observed 15% patients. On multivariate analysis, a positive correlation found drug use (OR: 2.35; 95%CI: 1.40-3.98; p=0.001), excessive alcohol consumption 1.92; 0.98-3.69; p=0.05), smoking 1.81; 1.09-2.98; p=0.02), incidence interactions 3.94; 2.15-7.17; p <0.001). Psychiatric treatment considerations with direct acting antivirals in hepatitis C
BACKGROUND Despite recent advances in hepatitis C (HCV) treatment, specifically the addition of direct acting antivirals (DAAs), pegylated interferon-alpha remains the backbone of HCV therapy. Therefore, the impact of DAAs on the management of co-morbid psychiatric illness and neuropsychiatric sequalae remains an ongoing concern during HCV therapy. This paper provides a review of the neuropsych...
متن کاملRisk of hepatitis B reactivation in patients treated with direct-acting antivirals for hepatitis C
The recent introduction of direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs) for treatment of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) has greatly improved the management of HCV for infected patients. These viral protein inhibitors act rapidly, allowing HCV clearance and increasing the sustained virological response rates. However, hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation has been reported in HCV/HBV co-infected patients. H...

AIM To determine whether ribavirin (RBV) concentrations differ according to cirrhosis stage among cirrhotic patients treated with interferon-free regimens. METHODS We included patients with hepatitis C virus and cirrhosis [Child-Pugh (CP) A or B], Glomerular Filtration Rate ≥ 60 mL/min, who started therapy with DAAs and weight-based RBV between October 2014 and February 2016. RBV plasma level...
متن کاملDirect-Acting Antivirals Cure Innate Immunity in Chronic Hepatitis C.
or a number of years, immunologists have strived to Funderstand the mechanisms associated with treatment-induced eradication of hepatitis C virus (HCV). However, interferon (IFN)-a–based therapies did not allow studies examining the role of the virus itself on innate and adaptive immunity to HCV. The study by Serti et al published in this issue of Gastroenterology provides a unique opportunity ...
متن کاملMechanisms of Hepatitis C Viral Resistance to Direct Acting Antivirals
There has been a remarkable transformation in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in recent years with the development of direct acting antiviral agents targeting virus encoded proteins important for viral replication including NS3/4A, NS5A and NS5B. These agents have shown high sustained viral response (SVR) rates of more than 90% in phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials; however, this is sligh...
